AT&T Fees

Att small printPay attention when paying your AT&T bill.  Or more precisely, the one time when you set-up your credit card with AT&T Online.  They ask a reather technical question about whether you want to make payment through some particular payment networks, as opposed to VISA or MASTERCARD and without explaining what the significance of making one choice or the other.  They merely invite you to ask your bank.

So this blogger Barbara Weibel got to the bottom of it.

Its little dishonesties that are corroding this country.  How obscure and technical is this little rackette, how hard is it for a consumer to actually understand this scam and object to it?  Yet an other example of what happens when there is no institution to stand-in and ensure consumer protection and forbid these kinds of practices.  There is no utility, nothing created, no additional service.  Its just skimming off the top, screwing AT&T busy and unknowing customers.  Just moderately vile.
